Waiheke Island - what a great place we live in. 

Loads of sunshine hours, beautiful beaches, great community spirit, a hop skip and jump from the metropolis that is Auckland, the best wine and food culture and by 2030 – a very real possibility that we will be the first major residential island in the world to ditch fossil fuelled vehicles in the hope to be 100% electric. 

With support coming from Electric Vehicle Waiheke, Waiheke Local Board and most importantly us, the locals, this exciting and inspiring pathway can only bring positiveness our way.

Consider this:  Waiheke is a relatively flat island only 92 kmsq and has a simple roading network with no high speed open roads which makes for an ideal support network for EV charging stations - that is, when you'd need one!  And, there is even a rumour that the ferries supporting Waiheke routes could be also be electric by 2030 as well.

The environmental, social, health, economic and tourism benefits are all positive and without doubt we’d be proud of the resulting low carbon footprint.
